Child sexual abuse happens when a child is forced into inappropriate touching or sexual activity with another child, adolescent, or adult. This form of abuse is extremely common, and many children experience sexual abuse before they reach adulthood. The effects of sexual abuse are long-lasting, and they can harm children undergoing critical phases of development, especially in their early years.

Helping children overcome the trauma of child sexual abuse is what we do at The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center. We serve children from throughout the Davidson County, North Carolina area who are involved in sexual abuse cases, and our goal is to help them move toward recovery in a safe, neutral, and caring environment.

Victims of child sexual abuse can come to our location and receive all the services they need to progress their case. Some of these services include forensic interviews, mental health treatment, medical examinations, and other services. All of these services are provided to children and their families free of charge, and we help boys and girls ranging in age from 0 to 17.
