OUR MISSION IS TO PUT AN END TO ONLINE CHILD ABUSE.
Online abuse refers to any type of abuse that happens over the internet. This form of abuse can happen on any device that has internet connectivity, including tablets, computers, and mobile phones. Online abuse can also occur anywhere online, including through emails, on social media, on online gaming sites, on online chats, and over text messaging.
Many children are victims of online abuse every year in Davie County, North Carolina. Our goal at The Dragonfly House Children’s Advocacy Center is to put an end to this abuse while helping children victimized by online abuse and other forms of mistreatment.
Many children are at risk of online abuse not only from strangers, but also from people they know. In many cases, the online abuse is another part of abuse that is happening offline, such as bullying at school. Some of the most common types of online abuse children and young people experience include cyberbullying, grooming, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and sexual exploitation. A child victimized by online abuse may spend more time than usual online, may seem distant or upset about using the internet, and be secretive about what they are doing online and who they are talking to.
Our children’s advocacy provides all the services a child needs after allegations of child abuse surface in a comfortable, confidential, and child-focused environment.
